"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."
James 1:22-24
Quick and Simple. God loves us so he wrote this bible for us to learn more about him and what we should be like to reflect a life of Christ. Thus, we need to fully understand and have complete faith that the bible IS the word of God. If we know this short and simple fact, shouldn't we listen to it?
If God has written and clearly given us instructions or ideas of what we should do or act to make him happy, should we not listen to that? This verse shows that if we aren't able to comprehend this simple idea, we're just stupid people who, like the verse says, forgets their own identity. They won't realize who they are and won't be able to do what is best for them.
